I recently told you that I had lost some of my brain cells. “Howevah”, I haven’t lost so many that I think it is December, and I don’t have a Christmas in July celebration either. But, I did pull out some Christmas décor for our recent plaid picnic.
Yes, that’s a Christmas tablecloth, and …
Yes, I normally use these napkins for Christmas celebrations. And yes, the green flatware with the reds probably suggests Christmas colors.
Um, yes, those are Christmas napkin rings too.
The salad plate is Comptoir de Famille, and I do use these year round, with the exception of Christmas. I don’t think I’ve ever used them at Christmas time - hum, I may consider doing that next Christmas.
I also use my Fitz and Floyd Country Plaid dinner plates throughout the year, but I will admit they look a little like Christmas.
The green Ball jars and the red stems might make you think it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
And yes, the green Depression Glass plates and the little red butter pots are also Christmas colors.
The Scotty salt and pepper shakers get year-round use at our house.
I thought that the addition of a yellow plaid metal box would un-Christmas the table.
I have used the vintage red plaid picnic basket and thermos for Christmas décor, but surely a picnic basket cannot be considered a Christmas item, right?
So you see, our red plaid picnic table has absolutely nothing to do with the Christmas holidays. Got it? Thank you for coming to my picnic, and Merry…um… picnic days. laurie

I think the red plaid looks very nice on your table. If you hadn't brought it to my attention I would not have noticed that it was Xmas.
Very pretty tablescape.
How's that little guy - hope he is doing great!

What a great way to give a "Christmas plaid" a whole different and summery look! I really liked the addition of the yellow plaid to the mix here, too.
I need a picnic.
I just decided that as I was reading this post.
(And thanks for asking about me. I'm OK, just very (VERY) distracted. I had both daughters here until yesterday. Plus, we are over our heads with both an indoor and and outdoor project. I'm going a bit nuts about the whole thing.
I especially like the mix of the wicker domes in the first picture- that works so well with the plaid. Cute table- cute accents! Love the Scotties! Fun idea using things that we associate with Christmas and making them work in a totally different theme! Hope you're relaxing now!
ha! I was confused when I first saw your table! "Howevah," you explained it perfectly! Love the wicker plate covers!

Love your plaid picnic! My whole house is green and red and I have wondered if people see it as Christmasy!! I love the thermos you added - pure picnic to me. I keep looking for one of those large thermoses or grills on ebay. Thanks for sharing with us!
Hi Laurie, how wonderful to set a picnic in plaid. It looks wonderful and so inviting. I love the tree cut bread board. How fabulous is that?? And, your mix of plates and fabric make it perfect. I see perfectly summer here and although you add red and green like Christmas, it just works outside for a picnic too.
So inviting.
Hugs!!
Gorgeous picnic table...Laurie, if you hadn't mentioned Christmas, I wouldn't have given it a second thought...I think of plaids when I picture the perfect picnic. Besides, it is great to be able to use our accoutrements for more than one season.
Have a wonderful weekend.
I don't care what time of the year it is ~ plaids are always a favorite of mine! Love everything!!

I think it looks grand... the picnic box with the crackers, especially!
Well, Laurie, this is one gorgeous picnic! This is better than Christmas! Love that tablecloth and the plaid plates are wonderful!
We all know plaid and tartan aren't just for Christmas. Your picnic table is festive, and I think the addition of the yellow box is perfect. '-)
I hope you enjoyed your picnic table as much as I did! Have a nice weekend Laurie.
I think your plaid table looks perfect for a picnic. I love the basket of flowers
