FIREWORKS PICNIC

We serve our 4th of July meal at about 2:00 in the afternoon, so by fireworks time, we need want a little snack.

Bargain Hunting with Laurie

I fill a basket with plates, grapes, and a few flowers (okay, honestly, the flowers go in the basket only if I’m posting pictures to my blog).  (Red and white melamine plates:  Le Cadeaux)

I cover a tray of cheese and crackers with one of my willow cloches,

and grab a bottle of wine.

Yes, I know these are martini stems, but can you see those pretty stars and swirls on them?  It is much more important to use a stem that fits the occasion than one that fits the beverage you are having, right?

I purchased the napkins and matching square tablecloth at an estate sale several years ago.

Bargain Hunting with LaurieJust a little bit of light, so we don’t slosh the wine all over the place when we’re trying to pour it into those martini stems.

Patriotic napkins, tied at the corners, cover pillows from the sofa.

Bring on the fireworks show.  We’re ready!

Wishing everyone a great weekend, and wishing my American friends a safe and happy 4th of July.  laurie

Laurie, I love a picnic, and a patriotic picnic is the best! Have fun at the fireworks display. We did this same routine as a child, and it's one of my fondest memories. The chef and I don't go to the fireworks display because of the heat and the crowds. ;-)
Love the idea of tying the napkins on the pillows. I think I'll copy that one! ~ Sarah

Fantastic idea for an Independence Day post! It's too hot for a daytime picnic, but some year I would love to take one for the fireworks. This year, we were rained out.

Well, phooey.

I pinned this basket for pinspiration!
