I know what you’re thinking. “Didn’t I already see her mantel decorated for Independence Day?” Some of you may remember that I took down the Memorial Day décor and replaced it with Summer mantel décor. I just can’t leave things alone.
Now, there is an Independence Day parade on my mantel.
Everyone got into patriotic costumes for the parade. There is an Uncle Sam on stilts everywhere you look! I’m glad none of them have fallen down yet.
The vintage toy drum that the majorette is standing on was one of my purchases at the auction I told you about in my previous post. I started the bidding at $5.00, and that’s what I paid for the drum. Do you ever wonder if something is wrong with you if you want something nobody else wants? I thought I’d use the drum for Christmas décor, but I decided I could also use it with the 4th of July Parade décor. (You folks who didn’t bid on the toy drum – are you sorry now? I’m going to get a lot of use out of it!)
Even my little barefoot gardener got into the patriotic spirit (mainly because I just put him up there for summer, and I didn’t want to remove him from the mantel and find a place to put him away).
On a nearby table, a dog and children are waiting…
for the parade to march by their house.
I hope you enjoyed the parade. I’m linking to Inspire Me Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life, Homework Wednesday at Worthing Court, and Summer Inspiration Décor at The Happier Homemaker. laurie

I just LOVE this! What a great idea, a mantle parade! Perfect Americana stuff too, it is all adorable! I am going to pin for future inspirations!

That's so pretty and festive!
Perfectly Patriotic! It all makes me want to stand at attention. You are way ahead of me. So many other projects on the agenda that getting the boxes down hasn't made the list yet. Need to work on that. Alison @ The Polohouse is featuring patriotic decor for favorites on the first. You'll need to link up. '-)
So cute and so clever to make a parade with all your characters. You are ready for the parade to begin.
I am loving the whole thing, and you made me giggle right out loud about wondering if there is something wrong when no one else wants what you want.
That is just.so.ME.
LOL
Love, love, love your mantel. You always do the best displays for every holiday. Thanks tons for joining Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
I wish I had more flags for the 4th. You can never have too many. Your display makes my heart swell with pride and want to break out in Sousa marches. And the old toys, and new, all come into their beauty for this occasion.
P.S. That auction must have been so much fun. I would have been all over those old magazines for my collection!
Thank you so much for your sweet comment on our daughter's birthday post!
Oh that house..just so darn cute!
Yes my dear Laurie you do the best mantels and the best displays and vignettes.
love it friend,
Cindy
Love it! Laughed at how you drug the barefoot gardener along! I've said it before - you have the best "stuff!"
I'm back here, Laurie, to say thank you for your sweet comment. You women are so helpful. So wise.
How Festive and patriotic! it's very pretty and meaningful.
The drum is cool. I am an Americana fan so the a 4th of July vignette is right up my alley.
