WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN-THEY LEAVE BEHIND A BIG MESS!

tablescape
I’m posting a wild and crazy Mardi Gras table for Tablescape Thursday, hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

I’m really not sure I should even link to Tablescape Thursday, because just throwing things around on a table may not qualify as a tablescape! I don't think a dinner table should look like the streets of "Nawlins" after the Mardi Gras parade!

full tbl
plate mos
Salad plates: Belonged to my grandparents, so that’s my grandfather’s monogram on them.
Dinner Plates: Our wedding selection, Lenox Moonspun.
Flatware: Belonged to my mother. (Note: I did put the flatware on the chargers, rather than on the table – I’m just not sure how healthy it would be to ingest glitter.)
Silver chargers: Tuesday Morning last year; Gold chargers: Too long ago to remember.
Napkin: I think they were from Wal Mart years ago; Napkin rings: Pier One last year.
stemware mos
Stemware: Recent sale at Pier One
Miniature Chandelier: This was one of the bargains that Kathysue at Good Life of Design posted about. She’s always posting these great cyber bargains, and causing me to spend money. (But since they are always bargains, I love it!)
Baby: I don’t want everyone to be digging through the King Cake to find the “good luck baby”, so I put one on each plate.
cntrpc mos
mask mos final
Even the wine bucket came to the party wearing a Mardi Gras mask. See the cute wine bottle light that I won from Mid Atlantic Martha when she had a give-away. Even it got some Mardi Gras beads for the party.
beads
The masks, beads, and parasol are souvenirs we’ve brought home from Nawlins over the years.

Now I have a big mess to clean up! Be sure you go see all of the tablescape links at Between Naps on the Porch. Thanks for stopping by. Don’t you want to stay and help me clean up this mess? laurie

LOVE your table, Laurie!! Fun! Fun! Fun!.. First I've ever heard of a "good luck baby" in a cake?? Is this a tradition of some sort?.. Love your wine bottle light from Mid Atlantic Martha, and that parasol centerpiece too! ~tina

How Fun!! it always is at Laurie's place. It does not look like a mess at all. I immediately was drawn to the plates with the monogram, you know me and monograms, then to find out they are family heirlooms, that made them even better in my eyes. Love the mini chandelier, looks perfect, I just knew you would do something fun with that. Thank you so much for the shout out!! I really appreciate it,hugs Kathysue

I love New Orleans and everything associated with the city, so this table is fabulous. The best thing about knowing the rules is breaking them (flatware on the charger)!

You know Laurie that is the way they used to "count" how many people attended Mardi Gras - by how much trash was left over from the parades? I'm sure there is a new way now, but when I was little that is the way city did it!

Your table looks so great! An awesome tribute to a wonderful tradition!

We are having a Super Bowl Party in our new house Sunday and my dad sent us some beads and t-shirts and mom ordered a King Cake from Gambino's in NOLA - cannot wait for that baby to get here!

If you get a minute, hop over to my blog - I'm doing a little experiment - it won't take long and ii should be fun!

Happy Friday -

Laurie~this table shouts out"lets Party!" It's so festive. No worries about the glitter...think of it as some added fiber to your diet, lol. I especially like the frosted stemmed glasses and the feathered masks. I may have to check Pier One for frosted glasses.
We're having a (small) Super Bowl party. I'm not really a sports fan, but hubby is excited about the whole thing. I'm in charge of the food. Which is going to be a Mexican food menu of carne asada, frijoles with all the trimmings. A few store bought desserts from the bakery should top off the meal and their stomachs.

Sweet wishes,
Sara

This is fantastic. Honestly, I don't know which table setting I adore more. Each time I see a new one of yours I think this is the very BEST. You know I was looking in Somerset Studio magazine and in the back they have a list of submissions. One of them is to create a party theme. Between your photography, your writing and your gift for setting a magnificent table, you should have a peek and submit something.

Great help, I am new to this site, but learn a lot. Auto insurance is a funny thing. Each state has different rules and regulations on how auto insurance coverage should work. Despite all these laws and regulations, consumers have power over their coverage. Here are three items that your auto insurance agent won’t tell you when you sign the dotted line: 1.
