ALO-HA-HA (WITH THE EMPHASIS ON THE "HA HA"!)

The amazingly popular, Tablescape Thursday event is hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Please go to her blog and link to some absolutely stunning tablescapes (don't judge what you will find at Susan's by what you find on this blog posting!)

I really do KNOW there is a fine line between...

CUTE ....................... AND............................TACKY

And I KNOW that there is a fine line between....

FUN.......................AND.................. FUNNY
......................................... (Yes, that is a coconut shell bra!)

Even though I KNOW about those fine lines, when I attempt something fun and cute, I never realize that I have crossed the lines until I take a picture and post it on my blog! It never ceases to amaze me how different something looks to me through the lens of a camera (especially if I plan to post it on my blog).

So, welcome to my luau! Aloha-ha!

I really enjoy the way other bloggers reveal where all of their tablescaping items were purchased. I wish I could do that, but I've had all of them for so many years, and I'm getting old enough that the memory is not what it used to be, so I usually can't tell you where I got anything that is on my table. I can tell you that the Hawaiian plates came from the Pottery Barn Outlet about 8 years ago. I think I got the Tiki Hut drink dispenser from Wal Mart years ago (marked down, of course). I do recall that the Hawaiian shirt plates were from Big Lots some time ago. I've had the very bright and very big fish napkin rings for about 15 years, and I've had some of the plastic stemware for 20 years. I do KNOW that my faux bamboo flatware came from Target (but if you read my blog, you probably already knew that, since I've used them before).

Thanks so much for coming to see my Aloha-ha tablescape. Don't forget to go to Between Naps on the Porch to find wonderful tablescapes. laurie

This is so cute! I love your mosaics...I wish I knew how to do that. I tried using your tutorial, but could not get the darn free program downloaded. You really have the best mosaic photos I have seen out in blog land.

This was truly a fun one! I cannot even imagine having all this Hawaiin stuff laying around for such a long time! Where in the heck do you store all of your themed items?? I think I like all the colors, too. It makes me want to go to Hawaii!! Do you actually party, or is it just for the tablescape? Just wondering.

I love that set up! I'm planning one for my 2 1/2 year old grand daughter because she loves to dance. We'll Hula dance! Might use some of your ideas!

Laurie, you are amazing!! I love this!

Granddaughter Xanti's room, here at the condo, was a Hawaii themed room for several years. We don't take our decorating too seriously, at our getaway place! I had mosquito netting over the bed, and a bright quilt on the bed. When we were vacationing in northern Michigan, 3 years ago, we found a Hawaiian dancer guy clock. Yep...dressed in grass skirt, the hips moved with the ticking of the clock. We added it to Xanti's Hawaii room. It was a hoot. Last year, I retired the Hawaii decor and turned the room into a calm retreat, almost entirely in white. Your post reminded me of that crazy clock!

Oops, forgot to add, I used a grass skirt, like your table skirt as a window treatment,in the Hawaii room. Found it at the Card Outlet. That's another great place for fun table setting thing, by the way.
