I'm still enjoying the end of Summer, but since I still had back-to-school décor on our mantel, I needed to change it. I was tempted to return to Summer mantel décor, but instead, I decided to tip-toe through the woods into Fall. (Do I sound like Tiny Tim without the Tulips? Yikes! That really dates me.)
On each end of the mantel, I used a weathered wood lantern. Inside each is a vintage, Autumn vase, a gift several years ago from my friend, Audrey.
The decorative bird and deer plates are "The Mane Lion", Made in Italy. I ordered them on-line a few years ago.
In front of each plate, I used a faux apple covered in script paper.
In the center of the mantel, I filled my dough bowl with deer sheds and tree bark candles. Behind it, I used a platter depicting flying geese.
I'm probably the only person who will ever notice a little make-over I accomplished this weekend, but I will happily notice it all alone.
Before we had this fireplace screen, we had a light-weight screen that the grandchildren kept knocking over. When I felt the weight of this screen, I knew they couldn't knock it over, and it was a great price, so I bought it.
I've lived with the bright gold accents for years, but every time I looked at it, the gold bothered me. It just didn't seem to fit into the room.
This weekend, I dry brushed Annie Sloan, Graphite on the accents. I know, it looks almost the same, but I can see the difference, and I like it better now.

Have you started tip-toeing into Fall yet, or have you already jumped into Fall with both feet? This little trip into the Fall woods is not making me enjoy the end of Summer any less, but it is making me look forward to crisp Fall days. Thank you for tip-toeing through the tulips woods with me today.

Hi Laurie, your mantel looks ready for fall...one my favorite times of year...not sure if I like spring better! Those plates are beautiful. I love the vases with the little acorns, very pretty.
Gorgeous Laurie, everything is so pretty.
Beautiful things in your mantel. Love it!
Yes, it's time to tip-toe as you say into Fall...lol
Hugs,
FABBY
PS: I too remember Tiny Tim, hehehee
Laurie, I have a question for you. Where do you store all of your decorative pieces? i have an old armoire in a spare bedroom, but it is just not large enough to hold all of my stuff. I have been enjoying your blog for quite a while. I was looking forward to meeting you at the reunion this October as I graduated with Dan, but will not be able to attend the reunion this time.
I am ready for fall decor. I just bought some really cute things from the thrift store the other day. Dead leaves are fluttering past my living room window from our large trees in the backyard and it makes me feel like breaking out my decorative wreaths for my doors and windows :D
It's pretty much perpetually fall around here. I just love the fall colors!!
I really need to get a fireplace screen, it adds so much character. Plus, I have a baby that's getting ready to start crawling and that fireplace is probably going to be the first place he heads to!
Stopping by from Cozy Little House link up :-)

Laurie, your mantel is so pretty. Love those plates! It is funny that most don't notice the changes when we re-decorate. I enjoy it and I know you do too. Happy Monday.
