SPICY MINOR MEDICAL FIX

SPICY MED FIX
The older I get, the more meds and the more vitamin supplements the doctors tell me to take.  It’s a good thing I’m healthy.  I’d hate to see how many pills they’d have me taking if I had a medical problem!
I’ve been keeping my pill bottles in a round cardboard box for awhile.  (I have to keep them all in one place, so that I won’t forget one~another indication of my age).  In addition to not being very attractive, the cardboard box seemed to shrink!  Okay, maybe the pills got bigger; or the bottles got bigger; or my doctor added more pills to match the number of birthdays I had celebrated. Whatever the cause, the box suddenly became too small.  (You’ll notice that I couldn’t even close the lid.)
BEFORE
I looked around the house for a container that would accommodate all of my meds, I spotted a spice box that I had purchased (new, in the box) for $1.00 at a yard sale.  I didn’t buy it because I needed spice storage~ I bought it because I liked the roosters painted on each side of the box.  I had been using it as a platform for one of my roosters, but the spice bottles remained empty.  spice rack whole

Looking at these BIG supplements, you might think that I am a horse.  I do need to lose some weight, but I assure you, I am NOT a horse!  (They do make a colorful picture though.  I know ~ it’s really sad when a blogger is pleased because her medications make a colorful photo!)

Keys to my health?
TAG014
I like my spicy minor medical fix much better than my old cardboard box.
Aren’t you glad you stopped by to see my medications?  If a blogger is posting her meds, you know she is someone who has an exciting life!  Thanks so much for visiting this overly-medicated blogger!  laurie

That's a really original idea! So much nicer than seeing bottles of meds sitting everywhere. But do you have labels on the bottles anywhere? I would never be able to remember what was what - another sign of age, I think! Kat

Leave it to you to find a cute medical storage solution that you already had around the house! And I did like the color contrast of the pills!!!

While I have my share of meds I have been keeping them right here at the keyboard because I know I will spend time here every day. The problem is when I forget to move them out of the way when I take a photo at the desk.
What a great solution you have but with my memory I know out of sight...what was I saying?

I love this and can't wait to search for something similar to store my pills!

Laurie, this is a great idea! I take several things, and the list is probably going to grow. They try their best to set up a little colony on my microwave, which I do NOT like. I love your solution, especially the "keys to good health".

Neat storage idea. At least yours are pretty colors. :D

You do have an exciting life. I could show my many pills...should win an award! But mine are all white...nothing pretty. Good job. keeping meds organized is a major job in our home and let me tell you, the pills are winning the war!

Next you are going to be telling us all about your root canal! LOL!
Love your pill box! Very nice...

That is awesome! The container, not that you have to take so many pills...lol! I absolutely love what you came up with!

LOL! Nothing like a good "med blog post"! the sad part, is I can completely relate! Oh, when did that happen to me? LOL I love this idea. right now my meds are in a large clear makeup bag. so not attractive. And Troy's are falling off the microwave. I really need to find a creative idea to deal with them. This was a fun ispiration!

LOL Laurie,
It's your sense of humor that we love so much!
And the spice box was a great deal and makes for a very charming medicine kit!
I know you have a fun life, cause I read about it here! hehe.
Hugs,
Cindy

Oh Laurie, I can always count on you for a smile and giggle!

But really... I think it was very creative to use a spice drawer for your vitamins and meds with the cute key tags to label them. It's much more creative than putting them in a tin and labeling the top of the bottle lids like I do! ~Sherri:)

I think it's a great idea, and if anyone blogs long enough, they'll need a spicy solution, too! ;O)

I am just totally loving this and I too seems like I am taking a bunch of pills everyday just because those tv adds say we should. And I do it! I keep my "box" right next to the kitchen sink and I still manage to forget. So I think I need a pretty box like yours. Maybe that will help me remember along with a remember pill. :) Miss seeing you. Come for a visit. I will serve chocolate! xo

What a clever idea, Laurie! The little spice cabinet is the perfect solution. Love the roosters painted on the sides and you know I love the background in this photo. ~ Sarah

Well, Laurie, I think this is a brilliant idea for storing your supplements. I can totally relate. Between my husband and myself, we have a lot of supplement bottles hanging about and some of them are the giant sizes. I love your solution.

What a cute way to store your meds. I have way too many also and I'm healthy! Still I'm happy to do what I can to remain active. Mine are in a plastic bin and I fill a pill box for two weeks at a time.

Mid-Atlantic Martha said...

Great idea! Much better than those plastic bin things!

I remember when the only pill bottle in the cabinet was for aspirin!
Love your solution, too cute!

Cute idea, Laurie! I have a similar little cabinet that needs a paint job. Don't know what I'll use it for-I don't have meds. Heck, I forget to take a multi-vitamin. It is all I can do to remember my Restasis eye drops twice a day. Glad I'm healthy, otherwise I'd be in deep doo doo! LOL

LOL!! But your meds really DO look pretty!! And if you're gonna have to take em they might as well look good! *winks* That's great repurposing Laurie! Vanna

What a clever idea! I hope you've got a little growing room in that cabinet. lol

Why aren't my pills a pretty color like yours?

How clever to use the spice box! I truly love the idea. I take a lot of meds too, mostly supplements, but others also. I keep some in the kitchen cabinet and some in my bedside drawer.

What a clever idea to store your pills there, Laurie. Not only is it pretty, it's decorative also....Christine

Dear sweet Laurie-I think the "keys to good health" were really in your June 14 post! Howevah-- :) only YOU could make medicine and supplements look like a trendy pharmacy!!! Sending you an email asap!
