BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

fav_thngs_cmbnd_thumb[1][1]

I’ve been up to my old tricks of “borrowing” inspiration photos from other blogs. You may click on each photo to be taken to the blog from which I “borrowed” the photo. Don’t forget, if I have “borrowed” one of your photos, and you have not had me arrested for it, you may take the “Laurie borrowed” button to display on your blog. If you’d rather your photo not be displayed on my blog, please let me know, and I will remove it.

Another of my favorites this week is this rose, which was a Valentine gift from my grandchildren,

rose

And the daisies, which were a Valentine gift from my sweetheart. I LUV daisies. I’ve always said that was one reason my sweetheart married me. He knew that I was low maintenance, because he could buy daisies instead of a dozen roses, and I would be happy!

As you can see, this Valentine gift from my sweetheart contained some of my favorite things. Since this photo was taken, there is one less chocolate in the box. The almost empty box is a thing of beauty to me, because it means that this box will stop yelling my name (you’ve probably heard it at your house, ”LAURIE”..did you hear that?) It is the loudest box I’ve ever heard. Once that last piece of chocolate is gone, the yelling will stop, and the temptation will be gone (unless I go out and buy one of those deeply marked down boxes of Valentine’s candy, because they have been yelling my name when I’m at the store)!

  1. Oh, I am so hearing the yelling from the chocolate. But I already ate all the creams....so it is getting easier to ignore!!

  2. I hate it when my food talks to me! It is a proven fact that I have absolutely NO will power. First it was Thanksgiving comfort food, then Christmas cookies and treats, and now Valentine's candy and Girl Scout cookies!!! I can't wait for St. Patrick's Day, the only thing I have to resist then is beer!! I hate beer! Isn't that great?? C'mon St. Paddy's Day!! :)

  3. Laurie, I am so there with you on the chocolate addiction. The chocolates are ALL GONE around here .... so I'm safe, unless the grocery is full of orphaned boxes that need a good home. :-)

    Thanks for hosting!
I love your daisies, rose....and chocolate!
I wish you hadn't mentioned about the deeply discounted Valentine's Day candy. Now it's screaming my name, too.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Laurie what a beautiful rose from the grandbabies! And I prefer peonies over roses any day....Not sure if that makes me higher or lower maintenance? *winks* Love the daisies from your sweetie! He loves you...he loves you not...He DEFINITELY LOVES YOU! *winks*
For me the chocolate box is more of a seductive whisper...Vannaaaaaaa come to me Vannaaaaaaaaa. Kinda like Barnabus Collins in Dark Shadows......remember that one? And just like all those silly women who slept with their necks out in the open, I too must obey! Lol! Hey did I ever make the favorites? Cuz I want one of those buttons! Vanna

  10. Hi Laurie!
You showed off some beautiful photos from other bloggers! Each are gorgeous. And your daisies are so pretty! They are my moms favorite flower. I just bought some faux daisies to start a little early Spring decorating around here.

  11. Thank you so much for borrowing one of my photos. You are welcome to borrow any thing I have. Well, maybe not my "falsies". Eyelashes I mean!!
    Mmmmmmm.
The rose and daisies are all the more special because of the love they represent. I am fighting the urge to eat the chocolate fortune cookies. I need them for our guests tomorrow night. I may have to find something else for them. Just think, when that is gone they will pushing Easter candy at us. Hug, Ginger

Hoping my computer will let me see all the pictures.

  16. I am with you on the daisies. I used to get carnations all the time and then found out he was being given one every Friday at the bank when he deposited his check. Oh well, second hand flowers still mean he was thinking of me.

  17. Laurie, My candy box calls to me even from the freezer- can you believe it? I put it in there so I wouldn't be munching on hard candy. However, I ate an entire 32 oz box of turtles in three days! I just couldn't sto! I kept saying, only one- it'll be okay.... yeah, uh huh.... I guess I must have eaten way more than 1 a day.... LOL
Thanks so much for hosting the party!! hugs, Sue

  19. Thanks for hosting this lovely party. Around here, the only food that speaks or actually gets pretty sassy, is the "not good for me" food. The "good for me" food never says anything. It could at least say "Bravo, CAS, for eating well." LOL

  22. Glad things are quieting down with the last of the chocolate gone!! It can be quite demanding when it is around for sure! Bossy stuff isn't it!

Mom was totally surprised at her party which was fun that we were able to pull it off! Had a great time seeing family-

  24. Hi Laurie...

Ahhh...such sweet Valentines from your honey! You know, daisies are my youngest daughter Jenni's favorite flower as well! She just goes "goo-goo" over them! There really is something so sweet about their beauty...simple yet exquisite! Thanks for sharing your gift with us, dear friend! Ohhh...and I nearly forgot...the pink rose gifted to you by your grandchildren...soooo precious!

Ohhh my...I sooo enjoyed each photo that you chose as your favorite this week! That french country living room by Joni is fabulous! Love those buttery yellow walls paired with the red! What a treat to get to see Ginger's gorgeous silk draperies as well! Can you believe that she sewed those herself? I stand in awe of her...really! And...of course you had to know that I would love all that beautiful red transferware! My heart be still!!! Each one of these ladies are so creative and talented! Thank you for showcasing them!!! Also, thank you for hosting another "Few of my Favorite Things Sat."...I was so happy to be able to participate this week!

Well dear friend, I do hope that my note is finding you and all of your sweet family doing well! You have a wonderful weekend, Laurie!
