I really do try to not like cutesy things. I would love to have sophisticated and beautiful decor like so many of you bloggers. Darn it! I can’t stop myself. I’m just so attracted to cutesy!

This plate sums up a lot of what I think about when I think of Fall, so I’m posting it as my contribution to Seasonal Sundays at The Tablescaper.

BLESSED PLATE

To my visitors with beautiful and sophisticated decor, I just want to say thank you so much for all of the inspiration you provide, and thank you for indulging me when I post all of this cutesiness! Please go visit the links below to see other Favorite Things that aren’t cutesy! laurie

  1. Laurie, cute jiggers, but it's your poetry that is the best!
You clever girl! Have a great weekend! ~ Sarah

  2. Ah, Laurie, we know you can also do beautiful and elegant. It's your gift for poetic storytelling that makes "cutesy" fun, entertaining, and quite sophisticated. It seems that you have a thoughtful, understanding husband. I'm glad you kept the box!

Hope your weekend goes well ...

  3. I like your jiggers very much Laurie. I like cutsey too, but I have very limited space for them. Unfortunately, I have to start to eliminate "stuff" starting right now. I had a garage sale and am going through closets and boces to donate.

  4. Your jiggers are so cutesy and that's what I love about you!!! :-) Who need sophistication...life is too short!

  9. Be who you are lovey! BTW you are adorable. If I ever showed photos of my old (150yrs)house folks would assume we were hillbillies for sure as it has no paint! hugs♥olive

  10. I love your ditty, and I'm not sure what else to say. You've made me smile...and giggle just a bit. Thanks for stopping by my post. Hey, if you happen to see the AJKA Arabella goblets at your Tuesday AM again, would you mind jotting down the SKU number and emailing it to me, please? They have a phone number that you can use to find things, but you have to have the number. I haven't seen them here in YEARS. I would love to find a couple more sets. My goal is to be able to have enough of each color to set at least small tables using only one color of goblet. Come visit often! Cherry Kay

  12. Those are so sweet! I left a cutsie one too. Hope that's ok. :-) Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend!

  13. Cute!!!! I'm talking first about the poem. I liked the jiggers and figures line best. (Especially since I read it all Georgiafied in my head and it sounded really good... figgers...)

And I'm also talking about the jiggers themselves. It's so funny that you even kept the box.

  16. Oh... I'm stuck on the cutesy train too! I don't think I'll ever get off. Hopefully, I'll just learn to incorporate a little sophistercation into my cutesy :)

  17. I try but cutesy draws me in and I can't saw aww... enough! Very creative post, you should win a prize! Have a nice weekend.

  18. I've always thought that sophisticated design schemes lack warmth. It's hard to believe actual people live with like that day after day!

Whereas your approach makes your house a home. I'd take that anyday!

  19. Those are really cute, Laurie. I will keep that box too if it were mine.....Christine

  21. Your post sums up my way of doing things too...just love what you love and be happy! I think your sweet jiggers are gorgeous and I can think of a million ways I could use that box! Good on you for keeping it.

Thanks for having me today. I have been thinking about my favourite things this week and just had to share my favourite song with you this weekend. I hope you will stop by and join in with my blogaversay give away too!

    Best wishes always,
    Natasha.

  22. Yes, they're cute, but they can be practical as well, especially if used as intended. Have a great weekend.

  23. Cute rhyme, cute mugs, cute post! :)

  24. Laurie,
These are so cute! I know you will find some fun ways to use them! I am glad that we are all different! When my children comment on someone being or looking different, I ask them to stare into my face. "What would the world be like if everyone looked like me? b.o.r.i.n.g.! They get the point! I am so glad the Lord is creative in His craft, as well! He is an Artist and makes no mistakes! Blessed beyond measure...we are. Thank you for always being a wonderful hostess! I posted three...hope I am not pushing the limit!

  25. Laurie,
I love cute; I love pretty; I like whimsical; I love all things. My house is a reflection of all these styles. So guess what? I love your jiggers. You'll have fun doing something ingenious with them, too. Oh, and good choice keeping the box! Your hubs did good, girl.
    hugs, Sue

  26. These are adorable Laurie!! How sweet that Hubby is always thinking of you with wonderful things like this! And you're right- that box must be kept- too cute!

I enjoyed your cloche party entry too and I think it would be so fun to have a book like you do! I would spend hours just studying and reading all the fun things in there!

  30. What an enjoyable post. I love all your cutesies! Sophistication is much to difficult to maintain. You just keep being you, and know that we love you just like you are.

  31. This post has me smiling ear to ear! How cute is the poem, the jiggers and the box! Husbands who love us (and our stuff) no matter what!

  32. Laurie-I think you do elegant quite well! Your beautiful mantel is an example! I can always count on you to have a special "spin" to make things interesting. I poured over your mother's scrapbook! How neat and great that you have it. Laurie, Little Women made such an impact on me too. I couldn't decide if I wanted to be Jo or Amy (definitely hinging on a split personality here :) I wanted to have a prayer closet like Amy. I LOVE your "blessed" plate! I guess you are watching the game now; we are watching the Rebels on tv too! Have a good weekend!

  33. Those are cute little cups and a cuter even box. But cutest still is your poetry. You are so creative!

  34. Oh, Laurie...I think you have the same addiction that I do to little people in regional costumes! lol You know I love this post...and I think the box is adorable! Love the plate, too! Sorry to be late yet again! It seems I am never at home...always babysitting or watching Little League baseball! Have a wonderful weekend!...hugs...Debbie

  36. I don't know why,
I am sure it's just me,
    But half of your words
    I am unable to see!

    So I'll use my imagination,
    I have one quite vivid,
So you did keep the box,
And dear husband was livid?? :)

  37. I LOVE that plate. It makes me want to go to Biltmore (to shop!). I've even warned my husband that the next 'free' weekend day we get, we're headed there all thanks to seeing your plate. Now about that mantel, I just want to move in w/ you or at least visit Camp Laurie's. I think you should open a bed & breakfast (I wouldn't even eat, swear). Cute jiggers too. (that doesn't sound right, does it?).

  41. I really only came over to read, but since you appreciate cutesy I decided to link up my pirate post. I am an old lady who still loves muppets.

I also enjoy your tale and the children. I would display them proudly around here. But I agree, that some of the "elegant" bloggers make me wish I could grow up to be more like them, at least now and then.

  42. I say, "if it speaks to you, and you love it, then who cares!" I love cutesy too. Some things we are just attracted to, even the box! I never tire of seeing all your cutesy things Laurie!

  43. Oh Laurie...I love this post! I am the same way! I even tried when we moved into our current home to change my taste...big mistake! I love cute...cute loves me! I tried so hard to be sophisticated...I think I pulled something! I finally gave up and gave in to my cute loving self! It suits me to a tee;)! Now that I am almost 50...I don't care what others think...I just buy what I like and let the cuteness land where it wants!

Great minds think alike...don't you think...CUTE!

    Enjoy!
    Cathy

  45. Laurie, I'd have kept the box too! I'm not cutesy either but those jiggers are darling. They remind me of one of my fave childhood books, "Heidi" which if I ever find at a flea mkt., antique or estate sale I will not be able to resist. And I love the autumn mantel. Ssomehow I am now acquiring turkeys, salt and peppers or just turkeys; picked up 2 ceramic ones for only $1 at an estate sale last week (how could I resist that??) and today clearing on MIL's apt I found two old china ones with broken toes, they had to come home and Jerry said, "what for.." I told him I'm starting to collect turkeys and he said, "I wish you wouldn't talk about me like that!" :) Who knows how these things happen////???
