WHAT WILL I BE WHEN I GROW UP?

I am joining Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday. Even though I have a mosaic in all of my posts, it sure is fun to have an excuse to do a mosaic! Thank you Mary.

I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up! Hey! Cut me a little slack here. I'm not 60 yet. I've got plenty of time to grow up and decide what I want to be!

As I celebrate Labor Day, knowing that there are many people in our country who are without jobs, I pray that when my grandchildren become adults, they will still have the opportunity to follow their dreams and become who and what they want to become. I'm so glad to have a day off work, and yet I know there are those who would gladly work today and every day, but are unable to find jobs. Today, as I celebrate Labor Day, I am saying a special prayer for those who are without a job; for those who are worried about keeping their homes; and for those who cannot buy groceries for their families. I'm also saying a special prayer for God's guidance for those who are attempting to lead our country through these unsure times.

Please go to Mary's beautiful blog, Little Red House , for a list of bloggers who are posting mosaics today.
(I know it's not Fall yet, but I somehow felt that leaving my summer floral header up was sort of like wearing white shoes after Labor Day, and as a "raised-in-the-South-female", I could "nevah" wear white shoes after Labor Day!)

Thanks for coming by today. Have a wonderful holiday! laurie

Oh I agree Laurie -- this morning as I was being grateful for a long weekend - the thought crossed my mind of the many people I know (and don't) who would give anything to have a job to go to today. I do pray that the blessings of meaningful work will rest upon many soon and will also rest upon our children and grandchildren.

What a lovely post today. As we pause to say how lucky those of us who are still working are and are able to work, we pray for those who have lost their jobs in these times or don't have the ability to find meaningful employment.
God bless you this Labor Day.

I agree with you wholeheartedly - I'm completely OVER summer, and summer gardens, etc. Bring on the crisp, cool, sweater-wearing days of autumn!

I haven't figured out what I want to be either. My kids will probably figure it out before I do.

Nice mosaic!

So cute! :) I still have no idea either. I've narrowed it down to a top 10 list I think though.

Great mosaic and thanks for the reminder! I haven't been over to see Little Red House since I made my first mosaic (using your instructions). :)

what a neat post. I feel exactly as you...while I'm beyond thankful to God to have my job, I do think of all those who have lost theirs. And yes, I love being off of work.

Hi Laurie,
Your comment about the white shoes after labor day made me giggle. I grew up in the upper midwest and my Mom always said that too! No white shoes, white purses, white pants etc. etc.. Your post was also so touching and true! Thank-you Laurie and I loved the grandkids in the mosaic!! Hugs, Cindy

Laurie, I loved the header. If more people were more childlike, then what a great world we would have! I will never grow up!

Laurie, what thoughtful sentiments. It is true when we grew up we could dream and believe anything was possible. Your mosaic is A-Dorable, such cute kids. Your a cute kid too!

Laurie, your post today really hit home. My DH is looking for work...any work...and it's so disheartening to see a wonderful man with degrees in engineering, accounting, and an education certification unable to find a job. He's in his 60s...the age where companies are retiring employees...and for every job there's a dozen people hoping to be hired. We know we're not the only ones in that situation, and we do have so much to be thankful for. We certainly appreciate the prayers.

Beautiful fall header!

I'm not sure about the growing up part, yet, either. Since we are retired, I guess it's over, whatever it was!!!! I've just had a wonderful life without working outside the home. I realize how blessed I've been, and ache for those suffering in this job market! Take care. Sally

Precious grandchildren! I must admit that I hurriedly changed my purse yesterday from a summer linen to a winter black. I felt guilty because I was a few days late, and I live in Florida where you wear shorts year 'round.
