SOUP'S ON!

This is what it looks like outside my window today. So, for Tablescape Tuesday, hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch...

I have set the table for a warm soup supper.

No, we're not having cherry soup. I just think the cherries brighten up the table on a dreary day.

I think it was in the 70's when Nabisco crackers had the "box top" soup bowls. We ate enough crackers to get four soup bowls.

The graphics on the bowls depict old Nabisco advertising.

I think it was also the 70's when Campbell's Soup sold the soup tureen and mug set, which depict the Campbell's Soup "kids".

The main course is my centerpiece.
Since I didn't have a centerpiece, I added this Campbell's soup mug with faux cherries to my cracker and cheese serving plate.

As always, thank you so much for coming by. I hope my soup warmed you up a little. Be sure to go see all of the tablescapes at Between Naps on the Porch. laurie

Love your vintage looking soup bowls. Your table setting is very pretty, Laurie. Those will look so good in my daughter, Tina's kitchen. Someday, I will share a pic of her kitchen with you. I really like it and soup sounds good to me right now too even if it is warm here because of a pounding heacache. Looks kinda spooky out there looking at your tree...Christine

Perfect for a cold day. My friend's husband works for Nabisco which is now owned by Kraft Foods. They have lots of old goodies too. Fun things to have around, I think.

I just had soup for lunch but not in such a cute bowl...mine was plastic
It was still good!

This makes me want some soup! Love all the cherrys!

We got some ice too, luckly the temp stayed just above freezing so it didn't do as much damage as they thought. Although temps could start dropping soon and it's still raining. Kids are out of school, boy was Chase happy!

You know that has made me hungry for soup on the cold, rainy day, right? Sounds good! I don't remember those soup bowls coming w/ cracker boxes, but I remember my great aunt had a Nabisco tin for her crackers, and for some reason, they seemed to taste better way back then!

Well, it's 70 degrees today here in South Florida, but I still had some cream of chicken soup. I love your tablescape with the darling soup cups...they are too cute and well worth all the crackers you ate! Cute, cute, tablescape! Stay warm:-)

Oh I can just taste some warm cream of tomato soup! I love the red/white/blue colors! I'm going to steal your idea of putting cheese and crackers in cups! Love this!

Love your soup table. Very cute.

I have seen the Campbell's soup mugs before, but never the soup tureen. Such bright colors and functional at the same time.

The tablesetting warms your heart and the soup warms the rest of you. I don't think you can beat that combination.

I have a Nabisco storage can for my saltines that I purchased (saltines included) when I first married in the mid sixties and then several years ago I got one for Ritz crackers (holds four stacks), they had out for a short period of time. I really like old storage cans.

Very cute table using advertising collectibles. A big bowl of steaming soup is my favorite winter meal.

Laurie, did you get may address? The first email address you sent came back to me. It looked like the last name was perhaps spelled incorrectly, so I changed one letter and resent. It went somewhere--I am just not sure to you! ;)

Cute table, Laurie, and so many of my favorite things that don't match my up-and-coming kitchen. I LOVE cherries, and have several dozen pieces to add to those already in my eBay store, and I have a good-sized cache of Campbell's Soup Kids mugs, too. Your Nabisco soup cups are very cool, I've never seen those before, though we drove by one of their factories in Oakland at least once a week. Makes a girl wonder ....

Have a great week!

Laurie Eve..I am so wondering about you since you have NO electricity like the rest of B'ville. I know you have those fireplaces though..and you will have some great stories to tell us about the ice storm that hit AR, 2009. Hang in there and eat lots of soup from those cute soup mugs. Maybe you have designed a centerpiece with all the ice limbs broken off in your yard. Make some s'mores in the fireplace like our Brownie days. Susie
