FRIDAY FAVES-OUTDOOR STORAGE EDITION

I really NEED some storage in the backyard, but I'd really LIKE a cute little cottage in the backyard.

But, if the inside looks like this fun room, there won't be much room for any storage.

With a view like that, I guess it wouldn’t much matter what the room looked like, but doesn’t this look like a wonderful place to rest?

FRIDAY FAVES OCT 25, 2013

BACK PORCH MUSINGS

I’ve always loved Pat’s breakfast room, but it just got even better with new bamboo blinds on the windows and a beautiful new rug under the table.  Don’t you love her painted chairs and that wonderful long table?

BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS

Welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Faves.  I’m having a busy week, so there won’t be much commentary with these photos.

I’m on my yearly “girlfriends” trip with 5 of my very dear school friends.  There are normally 8 of us, but two of them can’t go this year.  So, my posts this week may be a little brief.

Wow!  I love this rounded screened room – the floor and the ceiling are works of art.

If I had this tree house in my backyard, I might let my grandchildren play in it occasionally, but I’m afraid it would mostly be a retreat for me!

Two-Sided Warmth

BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS

My posts this week have been prepared in advance, so I could spend all of my time enjoying the conversation and laughter with my girlfriends.  I’m a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants blogger, so I seldom have pre-scheduled posts lined up.  I hope this all works out okay.

THE OLDE BARN

Such pretty double doors, and I like the book rack and the bead board wall too.  Inviting entrance.

LITTLE EMMA ENGLISH HOME

The red accents make this kitchen so inviting, and did you notice the “Ticket Office” door?  Isn’t it wonderful?

LITTLE EMMA ENGLISH HOME

I love blue and white.  It always looks so fresh and clean.  Also loving that pretty little French chair.

Aren’t those windows wonderful, and I love the feet on the cabinets, making them look like furniture pieces.  The apron front cooper sink looks gorgeous, but I have read that they are not easy to take care of, so I won’t be contemplating getting one.  Beautiful hardwood floor too.

FRIDAY FAVES-OCTOBER 18, 2013

I am having problems with my computer.  Grrrr!  I had more faves in the draft of this post, but my computer shut down, and I lost several of my posted images.  Our grandbaby has doctor appointments out of town, so I am keeping his two older sisters.  Life is kind of hectic, so I didn’t have time to go back and reconstruct the post.

I could live in this outdoor space.  I love that huge fireplace (another mantel to decorate!).  I think the floor is scored and stained concrete, which is what we did in our family room and sunroom, and I love it.  All of the ceiling angles are so interesting.  I am wondering if that massive chandelier provides much light.  I really like that iron frame on the bench, and blue and white fabric is always appealing to me.

This just looks like a cozy place to sit and chat or read a book, or even set up the laptop (well, maybe not my laptop, since it is giving me problems), and do some web surfing or blogging.  You may have picked up on the fact that I love ceiling beams, so I’m usually attracted to any room that has them.  In this image, I also like that window, and the upholstered chairs.

The grouping of botanicals on the wall first caught my attention.  I think the blue-gray color of the mats around the botanicals is so pretty.  I like the carved detail on the sofa and round end table too.

This room makes my heart beat faster.  Those gorgeous wood floors, the wood planks and beams on the ceiling, and that massive stone fireplace directly across from the bed – sigh.  Not one, but two ginormous chandeliers! And isn’t that a wonderful group of windows?

AT HOME IN ARKANSAS

What an elegant, and yet comfortable, room for bathing.  All of those deep blues contrasted with the bright whites look so fresh and relaxing..  Did you notice that crown molding?  Exquisite.  Love that painted china hutch used for towel storage.  And to top it all off, there’s that spectacular chandelier!

POTTERY BARN

Bunk rooms always appeal to me.  Although this is an ad, I can just visualize a vacation home, where years of memories have been created by children who bunk together during family vacations.  The contrasts in the room appeal to me.  The white board and batten walls, the rough log beds, those industrial light fixtures, and the big sliding door combine to give the room so much personality.

I’m glad you stopped in to see some of my faves.  Hopefully, I am through with my computer problems.  If you don’t hear from me for awhile, you’ll know that it finally crashed completely.  I’m holding my breath!  laurie

FRIDAY FAVES

Some of you may recall that, long ago, I hosted a weekly linkup, “A Few of My Favorite Things”.  The problem was that I couldn’t resist going to see each and every link.  As you probably recall (since I often complain about it), I work five days a week.  The weekly linkup became overwhelming, and I had to give it up.  I have just realized that I don’t have to host a linkup to share some of my favorites (I’m obviously not the quickest brain in Blogville).  I collect inspiration from blogs, Pinterest, Hometalk, and magazines, so today, I’m sharing some of my favorites.

fri fav 1

I don’t know if Kim’s dining room at Savvy Southern Style still looks this way or not.  As you know, Kim paints her furniture about as often as I paint my fingernails!  I love the blue china cabinet, the yellow chairs, and the host and hostess chairs.  I’m not ashamed to tell you that I am a leg person!  I love the legs on that table.

fri fav 2

This image from the HGTV site spoke to me too. Again, those sexy legs on that table, but the fireplace in the dining room is a dream of mine, and I love that curvy stone mantel.  Did you notice how the buffet under the window almost looks built in with the narrow china cabinet beside it?  I like to imagine that there is another of those china cabinets on the other side of the buffet.

Fri Fav 5

Can y’all believe I don’t even have a dedicated dining room or breakfast room in my home, and yet I’m always finding dining areas I love!  This breakfast room in Mimi’s house, A House Romance, stole my heart too.  I love the painted chairs and table legs and apron, with just the right amount of distressing. (Again, the curved table legs!) Isn’t that dark wood table top gorgeous?  What a charming scene in the painting over the buffet.

fRI fAV 3

I want to move into the boat house at Aiken House & Gardens.  Doesn’t this just make you feel peaceful?  Actually, I want to move to Aiken House & Gardens.  Did you see the Downton Abbey party she recently hosted?  Absolutely gorgeous!

Fri Fav 4

Can you tell I’m really wanting an outdoor retreat?  This one, from Better Homes and Gardens, captured my heart too.  I can just imagine enjoying nature while I relax on a comfy bed.  I might not ever go back inside the house where there are dirty dishes in the sink.

Fri Fav 6

I have a crush on this kitchen, featured at Houzz some time ago.  Everything about it appeals to me~those glass cabinets, the blue and white transferware, the toile slip covers on the counter stools, the inviting table (even though the legs are straight!), and the stained wood floors.

Fri Fav 7

Better Homes and Gardens featured another of my favorite kitchen images.  I love that hutch, filled with transferware, the French doors opening to what appears to be a courtyard (another one of my loves), the white chairs with charming cushions, surrounding a dark table with more sexy legs (Yes, I obsess on curvy table legs), the farmhouse sink, and of course, those rustic beams.

If a photo from your site was featured in my post, feel free to post either of my “featured” buttons your blog. (I couldn’t make up my mind, so I have two buttons, both on my sidebar).  If you prefer that I not post your photo, please let me know (email addy on my sidebar), and I will immediately remove it.
