FRIDAY FAVES-FALL DÉCOR EDITION

Fall Home Tour {Virtual} and a GIVEAWAY

OUR SOUTHERN HOME

Have you started thinking about Fall décor (or maybe you’ve already started decorating for Fall).  I’ve been collecting ideas, and my faves today are some of those ideas.  I love the breadbox filled with Fallness on this table on the porch.  OK, that is one giant piece of driftwood!

BACK PORCH MUSINGS

I’ve always loved Pat’s breakfast room, but it just got even better with new bamboo blinds on the windows and a beautiful new rug under the table.  Don’t you love her painted chairs and that wonderful long table?

BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS

Welcome to this week’s edition of Friday Faves.  I’m having a busy week, so there won’t be much commentary with these photos.

I’m on my yearly “girlfriends” trip with 5 of my very dear school friends.  There are normally 8 of us, but two of them can’t go this year.  So, my posts this week may be a little brief.

Wow!  I love this rounded screened room – the floor and the ceiling are works of art.

If I had this tree house in my backyard, I might let my grandchildren play in it occasionally, but I’m afraid it would mostly be a retreat for me!

Two-Sided Warmth

BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS

My posts this week have been prepared in advance, so I could spend all of my time enjoying the conversation and laughter with my girlfriends.  I’m a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants blogger, so I seldom have pre-scheduled posts lined up.  I hope this all works out okay.

THE OLDE BARN

Such pretty double doors, and I like the book rack and the bead board wall too.  Inviting entrance.

LITTLE EMMA ENGLISH HOME

The red accents make this kitchen so inviting, and did you notice the “Ticket Office” door?  Isn’t it wonderful?

LITTLE EMMA ENGLISH HOME

I love blue and white.  It always looks so fresh and clean.  Also loving that pretty little French chair.

HOUZZ

Aren’t those windows wonderful, and I love the feet on the cabinets, making them look like furniture pieces.  The apron front cooper sink looks gorgeous, but I have read that they are not easy to take care of, so I won’t be contemplating getting one.  Beautiful hardwood floor too.

FRIDAY FAVES-SEPTEMBER 27, 2013

It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is, I am always dreaming of outdoor spaces.

SOUTHERN LIVING

SOUTHERN LIVING

There are a number of ideas that appeal to me in this image from Southern Living.  Hydrangeas are a favorite of mine, and I love that they line both sides of this path of pavers.  I like the picket fence, the little bistro set, the urns at the end of the path, and the structure (created from old windows).  A charming getaway in the backyard.

COUNTRY LIVING

Toile slipcovers are just the icing on the cake in this image.  The stone walls and the gray painted door and shutters and the rough stone floor add to the French look, and did you notice the little demilune table and the mirror?

COUNTRY FRENCH ANTIQUES

.Who knew the golfer, Jack Arnold, liked French Country design?  Isn’t this kitchen amazing?  That huge black island, the china hutch filled with Ironstone, the hanging cooper pots, that range alcove – oh, be still my heart.  And I love that it looks like you have the option of an open kitchen, or you can slide those big, beautiful doors, and hide the mess.  Edited to add:  My photos and information about this home came from another blog.  A very astute reader, Suzy, kindly took the time to email me to let me know that she thought this might be the home of Jack Arnold, the Tulsa, Oklahoma architect.  I found his blog and saw a photo from his home, and Suzy was right!  Jack Arnold designs gorgeous French style homes.  Between he and Charles Faudree, I’ve decided there must be fabulous French design in the water in Tulsa!  Thank you so much, Suzy, for letting me know so I could correct this post.

I think, before Pinterest started telling me I had already pinned something, I pinned this study four times. I love all of this room.  I can imagine selecting a book from those beautifully painted built-in shelves; taking it to the bench in front of those wonderful glass doors; and spending an afternoon reading with a breeze blowing through the opened doors.  And that Frenchy looking painted desk and the toile upholstered French chairs aren’t bad either.

Can you tell I’m a little smitten with his home?  Oh my goodness, those big blue shutters, those curved dormer windows, and that open structure with a fireplace (which appears to be the back of a garage).  Look at that manicured lawn, and I love the vine covered arch between the two structures.

BACK PORCH MUSINGS

BACK PORCH MUSINGS

The mantel in Pat’s Lodge room is beautifully decorated for Fall.  I love those tall pinecone filled branches on each side, as well as the addition of Pine tree needles framing the beautiful pumpkins and leaves on the mantel.  And she tied everything together with a beautiful Fall painting.

ADVENTURES IN DECORATING

ADVENTURES IN DECORATING

Another gorgeous Fall mantel.  I love the falling leaves, hanging from the mantel, and even scattered on the hearth.  The pretty brown urn is decorated with straw and pumpkins.  I even like the way a pumpkin is tilted against the urn, as if it just grew there.

THE ENCHANTED HOME

THE ENCHANTED HOME

Isn’t this bay of  tall, stacked windows breath-taking?  I could do some serious dreaming while sitting in this spot.

I hope you enjoyed some of my favorite images as much as I enjoy them.  Thanks for stopping in today.  laurie

FRIDAY FAVES

It’s still “hot as blue blazes” (Have you heard that expression before? I have no idea what blue blazes are.).  But, when I see the wheels on the school buses going round and round, I start thinking of Fall.  Today, for my weekly Friday Faves post, I’m sharing some of my favorite Fall images.
